Mo Salah Was 66/1 To Be Premier League Top Scorer Before The Season

When Liverpool signed Mo Salah from Roma for around £35 million it looked like a decent piece of business for the Reds ahead of the new season. Not even the bookies predicted how good a season he was going to have.

Mo Salah has played professional football for eight seasons before the one that is coming to an end with the Champions League final between his Liverpool and Real Madrid in Kyiv on Saturday.

In those seasons the Egyptian winger had scored a very respectful 77 goals with 34 of those coming in his last two seasons as he really found his goalscoring feet playing for Roma.

The most goals the 25 year old had scored in one season was 19 and that was last year with the Italian side when he bagged 15 in the league and four in cup competitions.

So it's no wonder that when he joined Liverpool he wasn't expected to pull up any trees. Salah was instilled at 66/1 to be the league's top scorer, finding himself below Diego Costa, who was clearly leaving, Daniel Sturridge, Kelechi Iheanacho, Manolo Gabbiadini, Charlie Austin, Christian Benteke and Danny Welbeck:

Of course Salah blew all of those chaps out of the water and ended the league season with a remarkable 32 goals, more than doubling his previous best effort, with a further 10 coming in the Champions League.

Harry Kane came close to winning a third golden boot in a row but he came up just short after his month off at the beginning of the season and a month out injured towards the end.

Everton's summer signing Sandro Ramirez was also thought to have more chance of walking away with the golden boot than his Merseyside rival as well and that prediction was well out.

The Spaniard arrived from Malaga last summer, made eight appearances in the league without scoring once and then got sent out on loan in the second half of the season to Sevilla where he also failed to score.

Will anyone be this summer's dark horse for next season?
