New Juventus signing Danilo has revealed that he tried to get the number 7 shirt off Cristiano Ronaldo, but unsurprisingly the five time Ballon d'Or winner has kept hold of it.

Wherever Cristiano Ronaldo plays he is the boss, and it's obvious to see why, however new Juventus full back Danilo tried to take the crown by asking his new teammate for the number seven shirt.

Speaking in a press conference on Tuesday Danilo was asked about teaming up with Ronaldo and revealed the pairs conversation, joking, "I spoke to him before coming here. I said to him that I wanted to take the number seven jersey, but it was already taken."

The pair played together at Real Madrid for two years, winning the Champions League twice, before the Brazilian moved to Manchester City.

And the 28-year-old revealed that his conversation with Ronaldo helped him make the decision to move to Turin, adding, "He spoke very highly of Juventus and to play with him will be an extra motivation. I found a very motivated and happy Ronaldo. He spoke about the club like a family and this was reassuring to me. It was great to hear such things."

Ronaldo moved to the Juventus Stadium last summer, leaving Real after nine years in which he became the club's all time top scorer, and helped the club to another Serie A title last year.

Maurizio Sarri moved to the Old Lady at the beginning of this summer and the club's main objective for the season will be winning the Champions League for the first time since 1996.

Speaking about his new boss the former Porto man added, "He likes to command play. Napoli and Chelsea are two different teams who are difficult to face.

"I like his style of play very much and I am ready to learn and evolve every day. Sarri has asked me to be very attentive in the defensive phase of the game, and that I am free to express my potential.

"I don't think I'll have difficulty adapting to what he is asking for. I know that defending is very important in Italy, but I am 28 years old and open to learning anything that I need to become a better player."

As well as Danilo the club have also brought Matthijs de Ligt, Cristian Romero, Luca Pellegrini, Merih Demiral, Adrien Rabiot, Aaron Ramsey and Gianluigi Buffon into the club this summer.
