Bayern Munich won't be signing Cristiano Ronaldo this summer, and they have officially ruled themselves out of the running by releasing a typically brilliant statement.
Following the massive news regarding the 32-year-old's future, he's been heavily linked with Europe's elite. From Manchester United to Paris-Saint Germain.
(Why Ronaldo won't touch the Confederation Cup:)
Not to mention Bayern Munich. The reigning German champions have also been muted to sign the disgruntled Real Madrid ace according to reports from Italy.
But those rumours are false. So much so that Bayern released a statement, officially ruling themselves out of a move for the four time Ballon d'Or winner.
"Conveniently in German, the word 'Ente' means both a duck and a hoax, which is why at fcbayern.com we will be bringing you the 'Hoax of the day' presented by Franz the Bayern duck," the official statement reads.
"Bayern is reported daily. It is sent and printed, tweaked and posted. With digital technology the news is spread at a rapid pace. But sometimes a duck flies by. Sometimes one or the other simply does not match the facts.
That is why at this point we would like to pay tribute to the "duck of the day" and thus help to ensure that our fans are properly informed.
In the last few days, the Italian sporting day 'Gazzetta dello Sport' reported that FC Bayern are interested in committing Cristiano Ronaldo from Real Madrid. Subsequently, this rumor was also taken up by numerous German media.
Bayern's CEO Karl-Heinz Rummenigge: "We are accustomed to speculating intensively on possible inflows and outflows during the transfer period. As a rule, we do not comment on these rumors. But now, in the case of Cristiano Ronaldo, we want to clarify once and for all that this rumor has no basis and must be referred to the realm of the fable."
It's official - Ronaldo isn't heading to Germany.
