BATE Borisov left Arsenal looking pretty red faced on Thursday night when they produced a real cup upset in the Europa League, and then they enjoyed a good burger at 8 am on Friday morning to celebrate.

European football returned this week and it was a mixed week for English teams in the Champions League as Manchester United were brought back down to earth with a loss against PSG but Spurs came up with one of the best performances to beat Borussia Dortmund.

Thursday brought the Europa League back into focus and Chelsea were able to get back to winning ways, a few days after their embarrassing loss against Manchester City, by beating Malmo 2-1.

The big story from Thursday came in Belarus where Arsenal were beaten 1-0 by BATE Borisov and Alexandre Lacazette was sent for an early bath thanks to his red card.

Borisov had never previously won a European knock out game in their history and hadn't played a competitive fixture for two months, just to rub salt into the wound.

And some of the players, including former Gunners' midfielder Alexander Hleb, were spotted by football.london journalist Charles Watts enjoying an 8 am whopper at Burger King to celebrate their famous win.

Despite playing his strongest XI available Unai Emery would have been mightily disappointed with the performance of his players.

After the match he was in optimistic mood ahead of the second leg, saying, "Next week we are going to play another 90 minutes and I am sure it is going to be different. Today the first half was a good performance for us, we had chances to score, sometimes last week our chances brought a goal and today they did not.

"We worked. I am happy with the players as we worked and we tried. They struggled also defensively when they were 1-0 up - and they are organised and a competitive team.

"Our big chance, our big opportunity and challenge is next week. I trust in our players and I trust in our stadium and supporters."

Having celebrated with a round of 8 am burgers on Friday it leaves you to wonder what celebration meal the Borisov players will enjoy if they make it through next week.
