He's started a trend

Lionel Messi was booked for his celebration against Real Madrid on Sunday.

The Barcelona hero racked up his 500th goal for the club with a dramatic late winner in El Clasico.

And he rubbed salt in his rivals' wounds after the landmark strike by removing his strip and holding it up in front of their Madrid fans.

The Argentine forward found himself in the book for the taunting celebration.

But in tonight's clash against Osasuna, the Barca fans showed their support for Messi after he netted in their 7-1 win over the La Liga strugglers.

Just as Messi did against Madrid, the Barcelona fans inside the Nou Camp raised their jerseys with his name and number on the back to salute their hero.

It appears the Catalan icon has started a new craze with his antics in the derby.

Tonight's convincing result sent Luis Enrique's men top of the table on goal-difference, but Zinedine Zidane's side still have a game in hand.

With Madrid still having their attentions firmly fixed on a 12th European Cup triumph and a semi-final double-header against city rivals Atletico, the Barca title march is well and truly on once again as we enter the final few games of the season.
