Some of the equipment used included beach balls, exercise balls, American footballs and tennis balls.
Former Chelsea midfielder Essien took a brilliant penalty with a tennis ball, while Pires was cool, calm and collected when he placed a football on the spot.
The duo were involved in a light-hearted flash-point as well when Essien noticed the corner of the football card had been folded, and pointed the finger at the former Arsenal midfielder.
It was all down to Essien to score with the beach ball and force sudden death.
