Dean Saunders was told his "driving is atrocious" and he "can't even stand up" by police during footage of his arrest.
Newly-released police footage from the Crown Prosecution Service shows the moment the ex-footballer was arrested by Cheshire Police on May 10.
A police officer told him: "Your driving is atrocious, have you had any alcohol?" and Saunders replied "I've had one pint."

The policeman added: "You can't even stand up", to which Saunders responded: "Why are you saying I can't stand up?"
The 55-year-old was seen staggering out of his Audi A8 and the video shows him slurring words.
He also refused to be breathalysed by police who suspected him of drink-driving.
Saunders was seen arguing with police officers that he should be allowed to wait for his solicitor before being breathalysed.

He asked: "Am I getting myself in more trouble by not doing it?"
A policeman responded: "It has been explained to you but you have consistently refused to provide a sample."
Saunders told a judge that his asthma prevented him from blowing into the breathalyser.
But the court heard that Saunders did not mention the medical condition during his arrest.

Saunders admitted to failing to comply with a roadside breath test at Chester Magistrates' Court and was branded "arrogant" by District Judge Nicholas Sanders.
He was jailed for 10 weeks, but walked free after just one day.
Saunders was banned from driving for 30 months and fined £620.
District Judge Sanders said: "Throughout these proceedings you have shown yourself to be arrogant, thinking you are someone whose previous and current role in the public eye entitles you to be above the law.

"In fact the opposite is true - someone in the public eye should expect a deterrent sentence when they flout the law."
