Getafe manager Jose Bordalas has revealed what Mason Greenwood said to the referee which led to the forward’s red card.

On Tuesday, Getafe welcomed Rayo Vallecano to the Civitas Metropolitano as they looked to keep pace with the top six in La Liga.

However, Rayo Vallecano came away 2-0 winners thanks to a brace from Sergio Camello.

During the match, Getafe were reduced to nine players, with Juanmi Latasa shown two yellow cards in the first half before Greenwood was given a straight red card in the 50th minute.

At the time, it looked like Greenwood said something to referee Jorge Figueroa, which led to his sending-off.

Speaking after the match, Getafe boss Bordalas revealed what the Englishman said to the official.

He said: “The player told me that he said ‘don’t f*** with me’, only that.

“It was in frustration but at no point has he insulted anybody.”

Bordalas continued: “It was a comment, ‘don’t f*** with me, why won’t you blow (the whistle).”

Greenwood joined Getafe on a season-long loan back in the summer after it was decided that he should continue his career away from Manchester United.

It is believed that the 22-year-old is enjoying his time in Spain and in recent weeks, he has been linked with a move to La Liga giants Barcelona.

According to The Sun, the Catalan club are determined to sign the English forward.

A source told the publication: “Barcelona are hugely interested in Greenwood, and are determined to bring him in.

“Right now, they are leading the race and are at the front of the queue. Scouts have watched Greenwood and have been tasked with deciding if he fits in with Barcelona’s style of play.

“The overwhelming view is that he does, and that he would be a strong addition to the squad.”
