Roy Keane has labelled a Manchester United player as the "biggest disappointment" of the Premier League season so far.

United have struggled for consistency in the first half of the campaign but secured a vital 2-1 win over Chelsea at Old Trafford on Wednesday to ease some of the pressure on manager Erik ten Hag.

The win moved United up to sixth in the Premier League and they are now only three points behind defending champions Manchester City, who are fourth.

Finishing in the Champions League places is the minimum expectation at United, who have spent almost £400m since Ten Hag arrived at the club in 2022.

Several of United’s summer signings have struggled since joining, including Andre Onana, Mason Mount and Sofyan Amrabat.

Speaking ahead of the win over Chelsea, former United captain Roy Keane singled out Onana for criticism.

"The biggest disappointment has to be Andre Onana," Keane said on Sky Bet's Stick To Football podcast.

"I think Manchester United were right to get rid of David de Gea, but for the club to have brought someone else in and for him to be struggling."

Onana has made several high-profile errors since replacing De Gea as No 1 and Ten Hag has been forced to defend the Cameroon international amid scrutiny over his performances.

"If you analyse it well then you see he is the second-best goalkeeper in the Premier League based on stats, so his expected defending goals is the second best in the Premier League," Ten Hag said earlier this month.

"He's doing well. Also he knows that in the Champions League he makes some mistakes but all over you see the first five months he is doing particularly well."

Former Liverpool defender Jamie Carragher agrees with Keane but also named Arsenal goalkeeper David Raya as one of the biggest flops of the current campaign.

"The biggest disappointments in the Premier League so far this season would be the two goalkeepers at Manchester United and Arsenal [Andre Onana and David Raya]," added Carragher.

"They've been quite poor after coming in as 'improvements' from the previous keepers, and it's almost stayed the same or even gone backwards with them coming in."
