Footage of Erik ten Hag and Kobbie Mainoo sharing a warm embrace at last season's Carabao Cup final has re-emerged online following the star player's performance against Liverpool.

Mainoo delivered a stellar outing as Man United beat Liverpool 4-3 to secure a spot in the FA Cup semi-finals.

His showing in the first-half had fans saying the same thing following his England snub.

He'll be hoping his side go all the way in the FA Cup as he looks to win his first piece of silverware at the club.

But Mainoo was present during Man United's Carabao Cup celebrations last season.

He wasn't in the squad as the Red Devils beat Newcastle United 2-0 at Wembley Stadium.

Mainoo, though, celebrated on the pitch, where he enjoyed a touching moment with Ten Hag.

A video shows the Dutch boss approaching the budding midfielder.

They shook hands, with the Man United boss wrapping his arm around the player's shoulder.

Ten Hag then spoke to Mainoo, who takes in the words from his manager.

Mainoo has played 20 games across all competitions this season.

Ten Hag has trusted the 18-year-old, who hasn't let him down.

Mainoo credited his manager for the progress he has made at the Old Trafford outfit.

"He just wanted me to be more dominant and just demand the ball all the time," he said.

"And when I first came up with the first team, he told me he was going to push me and he did. He just always demanded more from me and just being involved in every play and just always getting on the ball.

"He’s been so helpful. And then always guiding me, as well as the senior players, and pushed me to help me keep developing and keep getting better and better. So all credit to him."
