Jamie Carragher's brutal assessment of Casemiro after Man Utd lose 4-0 to Crystal Palace is a must-watch

Jamie Carragher's brutal assessment of Casemiro after Man Utd lose 4-0 to Crystal Palace is a must-watch

Casemiro had a difficult evening against Palace at Selhurst Park - and Jamie Carragher has made his feelings clear.

Jamie Carragher gave a brutal post-match assessment of Casemiro's performance after Manchester United lost 4-0 to Crystal Palace.

It was a nightmare evening for Erik ten Hag's side, who went into the match with a host of injuries.

Captain Bruno Fernandes was out through injury, while all five of United's main centre-backs were also unavailable.

But Ten Hag was still largely able to select a strong side - making the 4-0 hammering at the hands of Oliver Glasner's side all the more devastating.

The result was perhaps summed up with Palace's fourth goal, which saw Casemiro - playing at centre-back alongside Jonny Evans - robbed of the ball just outside the area before Michael Olise swept home for the hosts.

And in his post-match analysis, Carragher left no stone unturned in his brutal assessment of the Brazilian's display at Selhurst Park.

He told Monday Night Football: "I think Casemiro, I am being deadly serious, should know himself tonight as an experienced player that he should only have another three games at the top level, the next two league games and the cup final, and thinking, 'I need to go to the MLS or Saudi'.

"I am being deadly serious. His agent, or the people around him, need to tell him it has to stop.

"We are watching one of the greats in modern times, played in one of the best midfields of all time - him holding Kroos on Modric on either side - who could easily go up against the Barcelona midfield we all know and loved.

"I am nowhere near the level of what that man has achieved, but I always remember something when I retired.

"It was a saying I always remember as a footballer - 'Leave the football before the football leaves you'."

The 32-year-old still has two years remaining on the initial four-year deal he signed when arriving at United for £70 million in 2022.

The midfielder is also one of United's high earners, which may make it a challenge for the club's hierarchy to move him on if they so choose this summer ahead of what appears increasingly likely to be a rebuild.
