Erik ten Hag linked with shock new job at Champions League club as Manchester United pressure continues

Erik ten Hag is under increasing pressure at Manchester United

Erik ten Hag has been linked with a new job as he continues to be under pressure at Manchester United.

It has been a season to forget for Ten Hag and United as they currently sit sixth in the Premier League table.

In Europe, their Champions League campaign came to a dismal end on Tuesday night when they lost 1-0 to Bayern Munich at Old Trafford.

The Red Devils fell to a disappointing defeat thanks to Kingsley Coman's goal in the 70th minute.

Now, with pressure continuing to increase on Ten Hag, he has been linked with a surprise new job.

According to BILD columnist Jan Aage Fjortoft, reports in Germany have linked Ten Hag with being the new manager of Bundesliga giants Borussia Dortmund.

Fjortoft wrote: “Wild rumor in Germany. ten Hag could be the new coach in Dortmund. Remember… Sammer (adviser Dortmund) has employed ten Hag before (Bayern). Let us see what happens in the new year.”

Reflecting on his side’s Champions League campaign, Ten Hag said: “I think it's not only about talking about that campaign, then you come to the same things," he said when asked what he'd do differently.

“So, why did this happen? I would say it's a symbol today, we have to make subs, and we're losing players, and we're losing also players who are very decisive for our game who can make the difference.”

He continued: “I think it was, in many games, also the case in this campaign that we’ve not always had the players available we want to play.

“And that's definitely a part but now I give you a reason but don’t see it as an excuse. Because even when we are not all on board, we still have to win because that is the targets that belong to Manchester United.”
