How Stuttgart fans have reacted to Wataru Endo transfer, it says a lot

Wataru Endo is set to sign for Liverpool.

Stuttgart fans have reacted to the imminent departure of Wataru Endo and it says a lot about Liverpool's pursuit of the midfielder.

Liverpool have identified Endo after failing to sign Moises Caicedo and Romeo Lavia, who both opted to join Chelsea.

The Reds have agreed a deal worth £15 million with Stuttgart, with the Japanese international agreeing personal terms.

The 30-year-old made 33 appearances in the Bundesliga last season, scoring five goals and recording four assists.

He played a key role in his side avoiding relegation as they won a play-off against Hamburg.

The potential departure of Endo has angered and upset Stuttgart fans, with people online describing the sale as a 'disaster'.

Other supporters pleaded with the German club not to sell their star man to Liverpool.

One Instagram user wrote: "Please don't sell Endo."

A second wrote: "If Endo goes this is a disaster. They had the option to extend it, but no, you wanted to do it casually during the season."

A third added: "When Endo goes to Liverpool and Dinos goes away too, that's it..."

Another commented: "Thank you for everything. Will never forget how you ensured us with class. Best captain in a long time. Hope you get the statue you deserve. Good luck at Liverpool."

Responding to a Liverpool fan asking how good is he, a Stuttgart fan replied: "The best player of the club and one of the best midfielders in the league."

Endo has plied his trade in the Bundesliga since 2019, where he joined Stuttgart on an initial loan.

His move became a permanent transfer the following season, with the player featuring in 133 games for the club.

He's scored 15 goals as a switch to the Premier League edges closer.
