Angel di Maria ‘finished’ Cristiano Ronaldo with insane skill during Al Nassr vs Benfica

Al Nassr were up against Benfica on Thursday night

Angel di Maria produced a sublime piece of skill on Cristiano Ronaldo during their pre-season clash.

Di Maria and Ronaldo, who played with each other at Real Madrid lined up on opposite sides as Benfica took on Al Nassr at the Estadio Algarve on Thursday night.

Portuguese side Benfica came out comfortable 4-1 winners after goals from Di Maria, Goncalo Ramos and Andreas Schjelderup.

Sultan Alganham was the scorer for the Saudi Professional League club.

During the match, Di Maria caught the eye after producing a sublime piece of skill to get away from Ronaldo.

The Argentine brilliantly controlled a lofted pass, because flicking the ball over Ronaldo’s head as he came to close him down.

Fans were quick to react on social media.

One said: “Di Maria has just finished Ronaldo.”

Another tweeted: “He’s 3rd Argentine player who is better than him.”

A third fan added: “'Europe level has dropped' Wake up to reality.”

Someone else wrote: “He was forced to foul Di Maria from behind to stop more humiliations.”

Whilst a fifth commented: “He cooked him like mad that Ronaldo had to foul him.”

Another fan said: “I hope Ronaldo watches that back and realises he needs to go be a family man now.”

It has been a far-from-ideal pre-season for Al Nassr after they were thrashed 5-0 by Spanish La Liga side Celta Vigo prior to their defeat by Benfica.

Ronaldo was the first big-name player to ditch European football for Saudi Arabia after he signed for Al Nassr in January.

Since then, the Saudi Professional League have been splashing the cash in a bid to lure some of the sport’s biggest names to their clubs.

To date, the likes of Roberto Firmino, Karim Benzema, N’Golo Kante, Marcelo Brozovic and Kalidou Koulibaly have all signed for Saudi clubs.

Whilst the likes of Jordan Henderson, Fabinho and Riyad Mahrez continue to be linked with moves to the country.
