Carlton Cole looks awkward after The Chase star makes rude joke about him live on air

Carlton Cole played for the likes of Chelsea, West Ham United and Celtic during his career

Former West Ham United star striker Carlton Cole was left looking awkward after The Chase star made a rude joke about him live on air.

In a career that spanned more than 15 years, Cole played for some of the biggest clubs in the United Kingdom having played for the likes of Chelsea, West Ham, Aston Villa and Celtic.

The former striker also played for the likes of Wolves, Sacramento Republic and Persib Bandung.

In a recent appearance on the popular ITV quiz show The Chase, Cole was left looking rather awkward after an exchange with chaser Anne Hegerty. You can watch the footage below.

Hegerty said: “Carlton, big fan of your football skills.”

She then cheekily added: “I love your tackle.”

An embarrassed Cole then said: “Woahhhh.”

Hegerty then continued: “And it seems like you’ve got some quiz chops as well.”

Posting the clip on social media, Cole wrote: “Enjoyed my time on #TheChase #BeatTheChasers @itvchase @itv.

“Also donated to @whufoundation who I work with quite closely to make the community a better place for all. It’s now available to stream on @itvxofficial.”

Since retiring, the 40-year-old has been working as a pundit.

Speaking recently about James Ward Prowse’s England omission, he told TNT Sports: “I don't understand it myself. When you're playing at the top of your game and you’re contributing week in, week out, you deserve a reward.

“It’s not just set-pieces he’s known for; he’s scoring goals in open play, he’s setting up goals, creating chances for the team, and his passing range is unbelievable. He’s always up there with the striker. So I don’t understand why he’s not even being selected.”

He continued: “Jordan Henderson has gone to, I’d say, not a competitive league [in Saudi Arabia] – not like how Ward-Prowse is, and he’s playing at the top of his game at the moment.

“It might help him in another sense. He’ll get there eventually, I feel. But he’s never going to drop off because he’s always going to have something to prove, so hopefully it’s good for West Ham.”
