iShowSpeed meets Emi Martinez ahead of Ballon d'Or ceremony before asking awkward Cristiano Ronaldo question

Speed me one of the contenders.

Footage of social media star iShowSpeed meeting Aston Villa goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez has gone viral ahead of the 2023 Ballon d'Or ceremony.

Martinez, who lifted the World Cup with Argentina last year, is one of the 30 players nominated to win the men's Ballon d'Or award.

And he finished in 15th place, ahead of the likes of Jude Bellingham, Harry Kane and Jamal Musiala.

Martinez is present in Paris for the awards ceremony, though, as he is also nominated for the Yashin Trophy - awarded to the best goalkeeper of the past 12 months.

And he met Speed, who was also invited to the event, ahead of the ceremony getting underway.

You can see the clip below.

The social media star shakes hands with Martinez, before complimenting him on his goalkeeping.

And it wouldn't be an iShowSpeed clip without a mention of Cristiano Ronaldo. The Ronaldo superfan asks Martinez before whether he prefers the Portuguese icon or Argentina team-mate Lionel Messi, who is widely expected to win the award for a record eighth time.

You can already guess what his answer was - not Ronaldo.

He then asks Martinez: "How are you so good at goalkeeping, bro?"

The Villa shot-stopper responds: "I've been doing this since the age of five. I've been around."

When Speed references Martinez's late match-winning save in the World Cup final against France, Martinez briefly blanks the American before introducing himself to one of his friends.

That is pretty much that for their brief encounter, although the pair did one again shake hands before Speed said: "Ronaldo for life, man."

Unsurprisingly, Martinez wasn't having any of it.
