Ray Parlour names the one Premier League player who would have got into the Invincibles side

Ray Parlour has revealed the one Premier League legend who he thinks would get into the Arsenal 'Invincibles' season.

Ray Parlour has revealed the one Premier League legend who would be worthy of a spot in the Arsenal Invincibles team.

The iconic Arsenal squad from the 2003/04 season, which included the likes of Thierry Henry, Patrick Vieira and Robert Pires, are the only Premier League side to go an entire 38-game season without losing a match.

After securing their perfect record and the title for that season, the team and all players that were involved are forever engrained in the history books, as they act as the benchmark for every dominant side that now follows.

The squad itself was packed full of talent in every position, with Ray Parlour playing a major role after featuring in 25 of the 38 games during the campaign,

Speaking on talkSPORT, Parlour revealed the one player across Premier League history who he thought would secure a spot in the starting eleven, regardless of the competition. “If I had to pick one player, it’s got to be Steven Gerrard,” he said.

“Bryan Robson was my idol growing up, he could do everything, and Gerrard is the nearest player I’ve seen to him.

“I loved the way Gerrard played as a midfielder. He would probably play in front of Gilberto Silva. He did a great job that year, he was like the invisible wall, but he probably wouldn’t get in that team over Gerrard.

“Gerrard was such an amazing player, he could do everything. He could pass, score goals, tackle, he could grab a game by the scruff of the neck – like that FA Cup final – and I love players who can do that.

“I’ll always remember Jamie Redknapp saying, ‘We’ve got this young kid coming through the ranks, he’s going to be some player’, and it was Steven Gerrard.

“Jamie got it spot on, because what a player he was. Liverpool were very lucky to have him for all his career, really.”
