Roberto De Zerbi's reaction to finding out Arsenal score says it all, he couldn't believe it

Roberto De Zerbi's reaction to finding out Arsenal score says it all, he couldn't believe it

Roberto De Zerbi found out the Arsenal score following Brighton's win over Tottenham.

Roberto De Zerbi cut a stunned figure when he found out the score between Arsenal and West Ham United following Brighton's big win on Thursday.

Brighton beat Spurs 4-2 at the Amex Stadium while Arsenal suffered their third league defeat of the season at the hands of West Ham.

Jack Hinshelwood, Joao Pedro (x2) and Pervis Estupinan put the hosts four-nil up as the visitors pulled two goals back through Alejo Veliz and Ben Davis.

David Moyes' team, meanwhile, ran out 2-0 winners at the Emirates as West Ham fans could be heard singing a brutal chant towards their former player Declan Rice.

De Zerbi couldn't believe the shock result in North London, having called Arsenal the best team in the Premier League earlier this month.

During his post-match conference, he asked the club's media officer for the result of Arsenal vs. West Ham.

When he delivered the scoreline, the Italian manager repeated the result to himself in amazment before cutting a shocked figure.

Arsenal's defeat to West Ham saw them break an unwanted Premier League record as they became the first team to have had 77 touches in the opposition box without scoring.

On his side's inability to score, Mikel Arteta told the club's website: "They were great, we have to put the ball in the net and win it, and as well because the two situations in the box we have to defend in the box, we didn’t defend it well enough. It’s a team that are really good in the box, with the timing, the quality they have with the front players arriving and that’s what made the difference today unfortunately and it is a very disappointing night for us because I think we should have got much more from the game."

Arsenal failed to return to the top of the league as they sit in second place, two points behind leaders Liverpool.

The Gunners, who have 40 points on the board, return to action on Sunday when they face Fulham.

As for Brighton, they climbed above Newcastle United to eighth place and face West Ham next.
