Vitali Klitschko is helping out Liverpool fans who have been left stranded by the airlines, ahead of their side's clash against Real Madrid in the Champions League final.

Liverpool fans who booked a flight to Kiev to see their team face off against Real Madrid were left angry and frustrated when some flights had to be cancelled entirely because of lack of airspace at the landing end in the Ukraine.

But they've been handed a saviour by way of Klitschko, who is offering to open up space at Kiev Borispyl airport for the planes from Merseyside to land.

It would be mean that thousands of Reds supporters who had initial been hung out to dry by the airlines could now well make their flight and see their team battle it out for their sixth Champions League (formerly European Cup.)

In a statement, Worldchoice Sports said: "Dear customers, with deep regret, we have had to cancel three flights to Kiev.

"We have had Liverpool football club, Police, Uefa and everyone at the highest levels of authority trying to resolve this.

"We have exhausted all avenues to try and get landing slots."

Obviously this came as devastating news to Liverpool fans, who had hopes of seeing Jurgen Klopp's in action against the La Liga giants.

Liverpool mayor Joe Anderson took matters into his own hands and reached out to former Champ Klitschko in the hope of getting flights back on track.

Writing on Twitter, Anderson said: "Working closely with Vitaliy Klychko to get the Kiev flights sorted - thank you for your help & support.."

"Close to solution now and more details will follow soon."

Lets hope those Reds can make it out to Kiev.
