Graeme Souness reportedly stormed out of the Sky Sports Studio over the weekend after being cut off by the production team.

The former Blackburn Rovers manager was on pundit duty for the final day of the highly-anticipated final Premier League day of the season - but apparently felt marginalised after the Sky Sports production team cut him off several times during airing.

During an ad break, Souness then stormed out of the Sky Sports studios in rage. Via the Daily Mail, he said: ""I don't need this. That's four times today you have shut me up."

It's also reported that he was 'annoyed' after being told to hurry up in his analysis of the match.

The former Liverpool player is regretful of his behaviour. A spokesman for Sky Sports said via The Telegraph that the incident involving the 65-year-old did take place but that he has since apologised to the Sky Sports production team.

"Graeme reacted badly to a directive to wrap up his comments before an ad break," said the Sky spokesperson. "But he has been in touch with the production team to apologise."

At the time it was thought that the fiery Scotsman had been withdrawn from the show because of his peculiar comments during his analysis of Reds star Mohamed Salah.

Souness compared him to Liverpool hero Kenny Dalglish. He said: "I was working with Kenny's daughter, Kelly, and I said 'he's like your dad with a suntan.'"

"He's got a football brain which has a different picture to most people."

Souness has always been a contentious figure on the sports programme, owing to his brutal assessments of players after matches. His unpopularity with viewers isn't helped by his reputation as having a heated temperament in management.

He was hired as Newcastle United manager in 2004 to keep in check the unruly members of the squad but was fired after two seasons.
