Pundit Graeme Souness has said that Cristiano Ronaldo spends a lot of his time on the floor, 'complaining about being fouled.'

The former Liverpool manager criticised the Portugal international is his column in The Times. It's written ahead of Liverpool's upcoming Champions League final clash with Real Madrid which will take place on Saturday evening.

Los Blancos will be looking to add a fourth Champions League trophy in five years, while the Reds will be hoping their attacking prowess can overcome Madrid and see them claim their sixth European trophy.

And Souness, who will surely be gunning for the Merseyside club to win the revered title, has now come out to say that Ronaldo isn't the force he once was:

"Hope it doesn't come back to bite me, and Liverpool, but he's not quite the power he was, no longer has the pace to get away from people instantly.

"He spends a lot of time on his bum now, complaining he's been fouled, and plays the width of the box. He's still capable of great things but, like Real, nowhere near where he was even 12 months ago."

In fairness, Souness does mention that he hopes his comments don't come back to bite him, knowing about the brilliance which Ronaldo still possesses.

The 33-year-old's superb overhead kick against Juventus in the competition is an example.

Souness has a reputation as an forthright pundit. His remarks have been known to cause a stir. His reputation as brazen and hot-headed individual proceeds him from his days as a player.

Only recently, Souness had apologise for storming out of the Sky Sports studio after reportedly being cut off by the programme's producers during the frantic final day of the season coverage.

He's a polarising character. Whether you appreciate a pundit that speaks his mind or not is another question.
