São Paulo Footballer Found Dead In A Bush Almost Decapitated And Genitals Cut Off

A São Paulo footballer has been found dead in the most horrific of circumstances after police said that his killing had been a "very violent situation."

Daniel Correa Freitas' body was discovered in a bush the city of São José dos Pinhais, with his head almost decapitated and genitals cut off.

According to the Daily Mirror, the local media is reporting that the 24-year-old Brazilian midfielder was also tortured.

"Since the appearance of the body, it was a very violent situation," a police officer said.

"The man had two deep cuts in the neck, his head was almost decapitated and his genitals were cut."

He signed for São Paulo in 2014 and was spending his most recent season out on loan at São Bento.

São Paulo has issued a statement: "The Sao Paulo Football Club deeply regrets the death of midfielder Daniel Correa Freitas.

"The club sympathises and pays condolences to the athlete's family."

São Bento added: "Sao Bento are mourning the death of midfielder Daniel.

"The management of the club regret the incident and sympathise with the family and friends of the player in this time of deep sadness."
