Cristiano Ronaldo is looking to secure his third consecutive Best FIFA Men's Player at the Best FIFA Football Awards 2018. The Juventus forward has scooped up both prizes since the inception of the FIFA Football Awards, but he faces fierce competition from Luka Modrić and Mohamed Salah for this year's title.

However, Ronaldo won't be attending the ceremony today in London, but there is an important reason behind his move -- it's not like him to miss the opportunity to collect another award in person, is it?

According to Marca (via GiveMeSport), the five-time Ballon d'Or winner is skipping out on the ceremony because of how close Juventus' fixtures have been.

Juventus took on Frosinone yesterday and won 2-0 away from home, with Ronaldo once again adding to his Serie A tally.

The Italian club takes on Bologna on Wednesday, so there's no doubt the former Real Madrid star is looking to recharge his batteries ahead of the clash.

At the age of 33, Ronaldo isn't getting any younger. But to his credit, though, he is keeping himself in peak fitness as he continues to adapt to life in Serie A.

Ronaldo endured a difficult start to his time with Juventus, failing to find the net in the club's opening three fixtures.

However, that all ended when the former Manchester United winger scored a brace against Sassuolo and became only the fifth player in history to break the 400-goal mark in club career.
