Paul Scholes has given his opinion on the crying of Mohamed Salah and Loris Karius's after Liverpool's Champions League final defeat to Real Madrid.

Salah went off injured after a tackle by defender Ramos and Klarius was in floods of tears after his two mistakes saw Real score two goals.

The former Manchester United midfielder Scholes is not one to hold back in his opinions and this time is no different.

Scholes, speaking to local publication Manchester Evening News, said: "If you go back years and you saw somebody crying on the pitch, they'd have had a whole load of stick for it.

"Now it's a different game, players are sensitive and they get upset easily."

Scholes was than asked whether he ever cried during a match and he added: "No. "What's crying going to do?", as if crying served a function.

"It's not going to make the booking go away. Obviously I was disappointed but close to tears? No.

"I don't think I have (cried on a pitch). Maybe when I was 11 or 12 and we lost the cup final or something."

Obviously everyone is very happy that Scholes has come out to assert his masculinity in this way and compare crying by footballers as emotional immaturity.

Scholes was the centrepiece of Man United's glory years under Sir Alex Ferguson but has since started to work in TV as an outspoken pundit.

In fairness, Scholes doesn't just unleash his opinions on Liverpool players, he can also be highly critical of his former side Man United.
