Lionel Messi has said that he would exchange the La Liga title for world cup glory with Argentina.
The global superstar came out as top goal-scorer in the top five Europe leagues for the 2017/18 campaign despite slightly falling under the radar.
His 45 goals helped Barca win the La Liga title and almost go through the entire season without losing a game. They were stopped in their tracks near the end of the season by Levante, who came out surprise winners in a jaw-dropping 5-4 match.
But Messi said he would trade all season's dominance by Barca in exchange for lifting the World Cup trophy with his national side.
"I would change a Barcelona title for one with the national team," Messi told Argentinean TV channel El Trece.
"Winning a title with Argentina would be something unique."
In fairness, the he has won the league nine times now, and he is yet to win a world cup.
Messi did come close with Argentina in the last tournament. He dragged the South American side to the final, where they lost 1-0 to Germany.
He's often compared to Cristiano Ronaldo, a player who's won a major trophy with his national side.
The 30-year-old critics often talk about his underwhelming record for his national side, for which he is their all-time top-scorer.

If he were to win the world cup with Argentina this summer, it would surely put all that to bed.
Messi has also said that he feels Argentina, despite reaching the final in the last world cup, are not the favourites in the competition: ""I have great faith in this group, we are working very well, we have players with a lot of capacity and experience," he said.
"But we do not have to throw the message of 'we are going to be the world champion because we are the best', because the reality is that it is not like that."
