Following his call up to the England squad, Marcus Rashford has taken to social media to pay his respects to his mum.

The Manchester United striker was picked as one of the 23-man squad manager Gareth Southgate will be taking to Russia after several bright years at Old Trafford.

The youngster flew out of the traps during the 2015-16 season, starting as a make-shift option for then Man United boss Louis van Gaal. He scored twice and provided an assist in a 3-2 win over the Arsenal at Old Trafford.

The following season, Rashford netted 11 goals in 53 games, before scoring 13 times in 51 games this season.

At international level, Rashford has netted twice in 17 appearances. But with Rashford it's more than just his goal-scoring ability, it's how he can change a game. He can push the defence back several yards and turn wing-backs inside out with his pace and direct style.

Rashford's tale is extraordinary.

At just 20 he's proved he can score and compete at the highest level. But despite the hype surrounding the young player, Rashford has remained humble - and this recent Instagram post is testament to that.

When it was announcd that he will indeed he travelling to Russia with the national side, Rashford wrote: "After years of you standing on the touch line in the cold and rain, Mum we're off to the World Cup!"

Hats off to Rashford.
