Manchester United are looking to activate a clause in Anthony Martial's contract that will see him stay at the club for a longer period.

In 2019, the French attacker will be out of contract, following the conclusion of the four-year deal that he signed with the Red Devils in 2015, when he joined up after making the move from Monaco for a fee of £36 million, possibly rising to £57.6 million.

Martial was in fine form during his first season at Old Trafford, and famously scored a great individual goal on his debut to rivals Liverpool.

The addition of Alexis Sanchez in January has meant that the youngster's playing time has been cut short still further and then reports surfaced that the player wanted to leave Man United.

But the Daily Star via the Metro are suggesting that player will be kept to 2020 by Man United, as they will activate a release clause in his contract.

The club will be wanting to tie him down in the hope that he won't leave the north west side come 2019.

Martial has grown popular with a section of the Man United support. He is clearly talented, but at times lacks that killer instinct in front of goal.

With so much potential there, it's no wonder the Red Devils want to keep ahold of their man.

It's clear that Man United supporters want the attacker to stay and flourish at Old Trafford - but whether that'll happen or not remains to be seen.
