If reports are to be believed, Liverpool are so far into negotiations with AS Roma goalkeeper Alisson Becker, they have already set up a medical for the player, with this side accepting an offer of £66.8million for the 25-year-old.
Though the second half of last season saw the likes of Virgil van Dijk join up at Anfield and solidify the defence, the Champions League final, where Liverpool lost 3-1 with their number one Loris Karius letting in two howlers, showed that if the side were to be taken seriously in a title bid next season, more names will have to be added to the squad, with the goalkeeping position being the one in most need of change.
A majority of Liverpool fans want Karius to stay; they feel he has a future at the club, being just 25-years-old, but they know that he's not the ideal man for a first-team spot - he's just not reliable enough to be their go-to goalie for next season.
Alisson, therefore, will be a welcome addition for the Reds. But it leaves them with a dilemma.
They face the prospect of having Alisson, Karius, Simon Mignolet and Danny Ward on their books.
Fortunately for the club, some wise Liverpool supporters have come up with an ingenious method of how to deal with the problem.
They have posted this foolproof plan all over social media in the hope that some Liverpool official with a degree of seniority in the transfer department will take notice.
Not too shabby, that. Yeah, You Never Walk Alone and all that, but there can never be room for sentimentality in football, can there?
Either way, the incoming Alisson must have some Man United and Chelsea supporters fuming at the Reds brilliant spending so far this window.
