After another remarkable season for the attacker, Lionel Messi is the top scorer across the top five European leagues for 2017/18.
The Barca star scored 45 goals in 54 games and helped his side win the La Liga at a canter. The Spanish giants almost went through the whole league campaign without losing but Levenate surprisingly stopped them in their tracks, with just a few games remaining.
Messi has run riot this season but has flown under the radar slightly, what with Cristiano Ronaldo's dominance in Europe and Mohamed Salah's in the Premier League.
But once again the Argentine has come up trumps, scoring the most goals out of player in the top five European leagues.

With Messi now in his thirties, you would think that he would start to slow down, his goal-scoring record would steadily decline. But Messi has consistently scored over 40 goals since 2009. His highest number, in a phenomenal season for Barcelona, was a crazy 73 goals in 60 matches.
When defining a good striker, some would say a forward must have to exceed twenty-plus goals a season to be considered 'great'. So when the likes of Theirry Henry and Alan Shearer start hammering home 30 a season, you start to take notice, call them 'world class.'
If you apply that to Messi's 73, what can we define him as? Something greater than 'world class', surely. He's taken the game to a whole new level.

We just hope we don't see his talents dwindle too early.
