Joey Barton Shares His Controversial Views About England's World Cup Campaign

Fair or unfair - we'll let you decide.

If you looked up 'controversial' in the dictionary, there wouldn't be Joey Barton's face, because the dictionary doesn't include images - but it would certainly define and describe the former Premier League and Championship player turned pundit.

Hands up if you enjoyed England's World Cup campaign this summer? Us too. Gareth Southgate has brought the sunshine back to England. The sunny season of 2018 has been the best in years, agreed by almost everyone.

And it's not just the hot weather: With manager Gareth Southgate, the Three Lions made it to the semi-finals of the World Cup, lost 2-1 to a decent Croatia side in the semi-finals - though we were a little bit lacking a times, before losing 2-0 to Belgium, a team with bags of talent, in a match no one really gives a sh*t about.

And Barton has now given his two cents on England's campaign in a series of tweets.

Though Barton might not be wrong, there's something about tweeting whilst just off the back off a loss that seems, well, just kinda easy? Indeed, he did have reservations about Southgate, but we all did. No one thinks he's a world class manager, but he offers England something a lot of previous manager's haven't: identity.

Not to mention he's given us our highest ever World Cup win, given us Harry Kane winning the golden boot, and seven World Cup games to fest our eyes over.
