He's been getting criticism for his stinker.

As human-beings, we all makes mistakes. Sometimes criticism is warranted for those mistakes, but sometimes it goes a bit too far.

This is the case with comments made by former on star striker Gonzalo Higuain. The forward is blamed by Basile for Argentina's 2014 World Cup defeat to Germany.

Basile, in his autobiography 'Generacion Lio', pulled no punches when discussing the Juventus striker's performance in that game, and even said that Higuain basically did a Gary Lineker during the final: soiling himself whilst playing for his national side.

"They do not want him in their squad because when that World Cup is remembered, the chance he missed at the start is what cost us the title.

"The truth is that it's difficult to explain what happened to him, because suddenly he was unmarked, had the ball at his feet and was 20 metres from goal with every option open to him and could place the ball anywhere, but instead the mist descended, and he fired it wide," Basile said of the most recent World Cup final tie.

Higuai was playing for Napoli during the tournament and he was played clean through on goal with the score level at 0-0 but he somehow fired wide - something which Basile seemingly hasn't got over after four years.

"It's not good to say that he soiled himself, but that's basically what happened. He was weighed down by the responsibility of realising he was about to score the goal that gave Argentina the World Cup and would gain immortality.'

A goal in extra-time by Mario Gotze won the game for the Germans, but not before Higuain had a goal disallowed for offside

Who knows what could've happened if Higuain didn't have such a stinker?
