Karim Benzema inadvertently sent Real Madrid supporters into meltdown with a confusing tweet that seemed to suggest that he was going to be leaving the side - but, luckily, he's has now cleared up the confusion.
The striker posted a tweet thanking the club for allowing him to give them nine years of service. Naturally, this made a number of Los Blancos supporters full of fear about losing one of their star players.
The tweet is translated as follows: "Nine years ago I first wore the shirt of @realmadrid thanks to the President, the whole club and the players and all the coaches with whom agreed. Proud to defend this shield and eternally grateful always." #HalaMadrid
Real are already seeing one massive star leave in Cristiano Ronaldo - they might just struggle to manage with two huge players going in the same window.
Fortunately, Benzema posted another tweet to clear up any ambiguity. Using the hashtag #home, the Frenchman posted a video of him in training, showing that his loyalties lie at Real.
As per numerous sources today, Ronaldo is now a Juventus player and so Benzema will have either Kylian Mbappe or Neymar to link up with next season.
Real seem to be going through a transitional period and could well see themselves lose their grip as the dominant force in Europe.
Either way, Benzema will remain a legend at the club for all his years of service. The striker is only eight goals shy of recording 200 for the side. That's some going.
