Gary Neville has now replied...

Gary Neville and Jamie Carragher were in fine form on Monday Night Football after Manchester City's 1-0 win over Tottenham.

The pair discussed a whole range of topics on Sky's flagship football programme including the strong form on Manchester United's Anthony Martial, the impact of stadium costs on transfer budgets and controversially, Tottenham players bottling it.

Neville, who won every major honour in his time at Manchester United didn't hold back when discussing the North London club's mental fragility:

"Tottenham for 30 years of our lives were spineless and soft, flaky, rubbish, you could be 2-0 down against them and think you would win 5-2. That's just the way they were. You knew that one little bump during the game and they would fall over it."

Strong words indeed... Turns out, Harry Rednapp didn't really like any of them.

"Gary's comments were an absolute disgrace. We weren't gutless, spineless, pathetic," Redknapp told The Alan Brazil Breakfast Show on talkSPORT.

"I managed a team there who had to go to the Etihad and beat Man City to get into the Champions League. We won 1-0, got into the Champions League, got drawn into a group with Inter Milan who were the holders at the time.

"We finished above them. We went to Milan, had a goalkeeper sent off after 10 mins, conceded four in the first half and got three goals back in the second. Gareth Bale ran them ragged. If the game was 10 minutes longer we'd have won. That's not a team that is gutless.

"It's a disgrace to label people like Modric, Bale, (Ledley) King, Van der Vaart spineless, gutless. I was so upset with his comments. He was totally out of order."

Redknapp made his comments at 9 o'clock this morning. By 10:30, Gary Neville had responded! Short and sweet - but the message is pretty clear. We don't think he cares one bit.
