It's not that long ago that people were revering Paul Pogba as one of the best midfielders in the world. Things are looking far from that now and he's taken another knock back this week on international duty.

Sure at the time £89 million was still a lot of money but most people could see why Manchester United had spent that much money to bring the Juventus midfielder back to Old Trafford having left as a youngster.

Check out our interview with Pogba's former teammate Zlatan Ibrahimovic:

He'd recently helped Juventus to a Champions League final as well as several Serie A titles whilst with the national team he'd been one of their best players in Euro 2016 to get to the final.

Pogba's first season was decent and he started this term well too but things have gone badly for the 25 year old in recent times and he finds himself struggling to start for Jose Mourinho's time right now, being behind youngster Scott McTominay in the pecking order.

This week Pogba gets some respite from the relentless attention he's getting in the Premier League right now as he's on international duty but he's been hit by more bad news. L'Equipe are reporting that France are lining up with two men in central midfield against Colombia on Friday night with Pogba on the bench.

The former Juventus midfielder has been struggling with a niggle in training according to reports and he will be on the bench with N'Golo Kante and Blaise Matuidi, who United have been linked with a move for, starting in his place.

French manager Didier Deschamps spoke about Pogba's current situation earlier in the week, saying, "Everyone is talking about Paul now. He has a complicated situation at Manchester United. But he did not lose his football ability and forget what he knows how to do."

L'Equipe report that Chelsea's Olivier Giroud will partner Antoine Griezmann upfront as Deschamps kicks off his World Cup warm up against the side who delighted during the tournament four years ago in Brazil when James Rodriguez made his name.

There's no doubt that the 1998 winners will be one of the favourites for the title once again this year with a ridiculously strong squad but will Pogba be starting come their first game?
