We've all been involved in Sunday League games where some players literally don't turn up but it doesn't usually happen in a professional game but today it happened to Pro Piacenza.
What's the highest score you've ever lost a game by? For me it was 18-0, as a bunch of 16 year olds we went up to an open age league and in one of our first games played a university team ready to give us a good beating.
Making it worse was the fact that we had to travel from Manchester to Leeds for the embarrassment and worse still was taking two opposition players home in our team bus.
The next day we were back in school and didn't have to think about it, instead complaining about the maths homework.

Serie C side Pro Piacenza won't have that luxury, although they're also teenagers. The Italian side from the third tier could only put out eight players, all around 18 and 19 and were handed a battering.
Playing away against Cuneo they were 16-0 down at half time. The hosts obviously took it a bit easier in the second half with the game finishing 20-0.
Clearly it wasn't so much 'Defendi' as 'attacki' for the home team, sorry I couldn't help myself.

In terms of context the losing side are currently in financial difficulties and players have been on strike because they've not been paid.
That left them with only a bunch of teenagers to play, a stand in manager who was also the captain and having to play because after suspending three games a fourth would have seen them thrown out of the league.
Whatever happened during the game you've got to say fair play to the eight men, they only conceded four goals in the second half.

We hope that finances get sorted at Pro Piacenza and there's no more scenes like today's in Serie C.
