LAD 'Retires' From Fantasy Football After His Subs Rack Up More Points Than His Team

LAD 'Retires' From Fantasy Football After His Subs Rack Up More Points Than His Team

Oh dear...

One LAD has jokingly pledged to pack in Fantasy Football for good after four of his substitutes racked up the points this week.

Conor Hayward had the high-scoring trio of Leroy Sane, Ben Davies and Eric-Maxim Choupo Moting, as well as Chelsea's Thibaut Courtois in his ranks for gameweek four but left all four players on the bench and therefore because of FPL rules, did not receive the 44 points they collected in his total points.

Sane, on as a substitute in Saturday's early kick-off between Manchester City and Liverpool at the Etihad, turned in a sublime two-goal performance in the 5-0 romp over Jurgen Klopp's side after entering the fray in the 57nd minute. His excellent cameo was worth 13 points and he made the FPL dream team as a result.

In the late kick-off involving Stoke City and Manchester United, Cameroonian international Choupo Moting, the man with the greatest sounding name in football who signed for Stoke on a free, was also at the double and accrued 15 points for his brace at the Bet365 Stadium.

Davies started Spurs' 3-0 away win at Goodison Park, with his clean sheet and assist adding 14 points to any FPL players who slotted him into their backline, though Conor was not one of those people. Finally, Courtois, had he been deployed in the sticks, would have only brought a further two points after his Chelsea side won 2-1 at Leicester City.

With West Ham striker Javier Hernandez still to play tonight, Conor's bench amassed two more points than his starting XI did on the whole and the Tweet in which he shared his calamity, has gone viral.

At the time of writing, his Tweet has garnered nearly 5,000 Retweets and over 6,000 likes, with the official FPL Twitter account even weighing in on his tragedy!

But to make matters even worse, Conor hadn't made the easy mistake of forgetting to put the players in his matchday squad, he purposely left all four on the bench, including the three big point scorers.

Explaining his reasoning to SPORTbible, he said:

"Unfortunately I didn't forget. My thinking was that Davies was going to concede away at Everton, Sane hasn't started much this season and Choupo-Moting (although he is a striker down as a midfielder on the game) was a gamble in the first place. The most annoying thing was that I had started Tadic, Phil Jones and Cedric who all got me one point each!"

And following what turned out to be a disaster of a decision, Conor now sits second bottom of a league with his mates. How big a different those points would have made had he included them in his starting XI!
