England fans demand Gareth Southgate choose Championship player if Luke Shaw isn't fit for Euro 2024

England fans want a Championship player in the starting XI for Euro 2024.

England fans want a Championship player in the starting XI for Euro 2024 if Luke Shaw is unfit.

The Championship took centre stage over the Easter Holiday as fixtures were scheduled on Good Friday and Easter Monday.

Bristol City, Queens Park Rangers and Ipswich Town secured six points over the hectic Easter period.

Ipswich beat Blackburn Rovers then Southampton in a thriller to return to the top of the league.

Kieran McKenna's side came from 2-1 down to claim a dramatic 3-2 victory, with Jeremy Sarmiento scoring in the 97th minute.

The Tractor Boys had opened the scoring through a stunning goal by Leif Davis.

On his trusted left peg, he smashed home a terrific strike as he enjoys a brilliant campaign.

He's starred for Ipswich this season and fans have demanded Gareth Southgate names the 24-year-old in his starting XI if Shaw is not fit enough to start.

One X user wrote: "I couldn’t back that more, when he was linked with Newcastle a couple weeks ago the amount of slander Toon supporters where giving out was laughable! Leif is a menace!"

A second tweeted: "Like a Championship TAA, brilliant going forward but looks ropey as hell when he has to defend."

A third added: "Not unpopular amongst those that watch him every week."

A fourth said: "We were silly to sell him, genuinely don’t think he’d look out of place in the England side."

Another argued: "Southgate won’t even consider Tomori playing in Italy so I can’t imagine a scenario where he takes a championship player, sad."

Davis graduated from Leeds United's youth academy and broke into the first-team under Marcelo Bielsa.

He had a loan spell at Bournemouth before joining Ipswich on a permanent deal for a seven-figure fee.

The left-back has made 68 appearances across all competitions for the club, scoring four goals.

He helped inspire his team to promotion last season and will be looking to do the same this campaign.
