"Shambles..." Fans all say the same thing after Christopher Nknunku is pictured in Chelsea shirt

The French striker agreed a pre-contract with Chelsea back in December.

Chelsea fans are all saying the same thing after Christopher Nkunku was pictured in a blue shirt for the first time following his £62 million move from RB Leipzig.

Nkunku signed a pre-contract with the Blues back in December, agreeing to a six-year deal at Stamford Bridge.

The 25-year-old is the first official signing of Mauricio Pochettino’s reign despite the fact a transfer was agreed before the Argentinian's arrival.

And Nkunku has now been unveiled on Chelsea's Twitter page wearing the shirt, accompanied by the caption: "Nkunku in Blue."

The Frenchman opted for a relaxed pose in both photos, reflective of his calmness in front of goal.

However, supporters were quick to spot their new striker was wearing Chelsea's shirt from last season, sparking outrage in the comments.

One Twitter user wrote: "Pre season starts in 2 weeks and we don’t even have a new kit ready".

Another added: "Announcing Nkunku with the old kit is a bit embarrassing ngl, this club is a shambles".

A third simply wrote: "Old shirt".

Indeed, the pictures will not help supporters forget the lows of last season, in which they finished 12th place in the Premier League table during a hugely underwhelming campaign.

Fans will hope the arrival fo Nkunku can help provide some much needed firepower in attack after they scored the joint-fourth least goals in the league.

Despite suffering two muscle injuries last term, Nkunku still managed to finish the Bundesliga season with 16 goals and six assists in 25 games.

And he bid Leipzig farewell in style, delivering just their second piece of silverware in the club's history.

Nkunku shone in his final game for the club, where he opened the scoring in the second-half before setting up Dominik Szoboszlai’s to beat Eintracht Frankfurt 2-0 in the DFB-Pokal final.

With the likes of Pierre Emerick-Aubameyang and Romelu Lukaku expected to leave Chelsea permanently, the west London side are likely to still be in the market for an elite number nine in their bid to return to the Champions League.

Nkunku could be in line to make his debut against National League champions Wrexham in North Carolina on July 19.
