Woman Wins £4.1k From £2 Six Fold Accumulator Thanks To Southampton

Not many people would have expected Southampton to stop Chelsea but Angus Gunn's heroics owed to one fan winning £4.1k.

Most people wouldn't have expected Chelsea to fail to beat Southampton on Wednesday night but one fan clearly had faith in the Saints and it paid off with a £4.1k payout off a £2 bet.

There's often a few unexpected results around this time of year, whether that's because of who wins or just the number of goals scored in a game, the busy Christmas period often throws up a few surprises.

That's at least partially because there's so much football that the 'shock' results feel more concentrated and also because the amount being played means that players inevitably get tired and so mistakes become more likely.

Wednesday night threw up a couple of odd results with Crystal Palace and Burnley both managing to pick up much needed away wins, especially Burnley who beat fellow relegation battlers Huddersfield.

However the biggest surprise was Chelsea's draw with Southampton. The Saints are much improved under Ralph Hasenhuttl but it's not that long ago the Blues were battling for the title with Liverpool and City.

Chelsea drew a blank on Wednesday, with Angus Gunn making an impressive debut in the Southampton goal, meaning they're now just three points about Arsenal and six ahead of Manchester United.

But their loss did benefit one person for sure, a punter who had a small £2 bet on Wednesday's football and did very well out of it:

Seriously, who the hell is betting on Chelsea not winning that game?!

It seems this girl definitely has a lot to thank Gunn, and his manager for playing him, for as the former Manchester City goalkeeper made his debut and impressed a lot of fans.

It's unlikely that it'll be Gunn's final appearance for Southampton and it's pretty certain that it'll be sooner rather than later.

On the other hand we'll all be considering our bets a bit more now.
