13 Real Madrid Players Get Into The FIFPro World XI Shortlist

13 Real Madrid Players Get Into The FIFPro World XI Shortlist

There's a good contingent from the Premier League as FIFPro get ready to name the world's best XI for this year.

At the Emmys on Sunday Sean Spicer turned up to laugh at himself so we can only hope that Sepp Blatter turns up at FIFA's The Best awards to do a skit about corruption, possibly he could announce the FIFPro World XI from a brown envelope now the shortlist has been announced.

Yes ladies and gentleman it's almost awards season, which is weird to say considering it's not even October yet. Football will soon be rewarding the best around from the past year.

Of course the Ballon d'Or and FIFA's own 'The Best' award for the planet's best player has become a little bit predictable with Cristiano Ronaldo's likely coronation meaning that he and Lionel Messi will have locked out the top spot for the past decade.

So there's now more interest in deciding who would join the pair in the world's best XI, as chosen by FIFPro. And the 'shortlist' for this year's team has come out, although at 55 names it's not that short.

There are unsurprisingly 13 players from the Real Madrid side that became the first to defend the Champions League, Barcelona are joint second with Bayern in representation on eight, despite only winning the Copa del Rey, Manchester United and PSG have six each.

Chelsea have four players included, Arsenal have two, Liverpool have one, Spurs also have one whilst no Manchester City player makes the list!
