Granit Xhaka was spotted yelling at Aaron Ramsdale during Arsenal's Premier League defeat to Manchester City on Wednesday.

The Gunners were on the receiving end of a 4-1 thrashing at the Etihad, as their Premier League title hopes took a significant hit.

Kevin De Bruyne got the party started inside seven minutes, before John Stones doubled their advantage with a well-taken header.

De Bruyne wasn't finished there, threading an effort through the legs of Rob Holding and into the bottom corner.

Holding got his revenge, smashing the ball past Ederson provide some consolation before Erling Haaland completed the act deep into stoppage time.

But with tempers running high, Xhaka had some choice words for his goalkeeper.

What happened?

One of the issues Arsenal faced on Wednesday was City's high press, which had the Arsenal defenders chasing shadows whenever they gave the ball away.

After De Bruyne's first goal, Ramsdale decided against playing out from the back, choosing to lump the ball up field instead.

Xhaka, who was incensed by the 24-year-old's decision was spotted furiously gesturing to his keeper to pass to a red shirt.

Indeed, Ramsdale didn't cover himself in glory all evening. The Englishman may have regrets that he didn't get a hand to De Bruyne's first goal, when he was beaten at his near post.

Although he did make a series of smart saves to deny Haaland what could have been a hat-trick.

In truth, for a side who have demonstrated their ability to move the ball from back to front all season, it was a desperately poor display.

The defeat leaves Arsenal two points clear at the top of the table. Although Pep Guardiola has the chance to go four points clear if they win their next two games in hand against Fulham and West Ham.

To stand any chance themselves, Arsenal must win every game until the end of the season and pray for City to slip up.
