Arsenal star Martin Odegaard has identified his side's biggest weakness during their 3-1 defeat to Manchester City on Wednesday.

The Gunners lost control of the lead of the Premier League as a result of the loss, the first time they have not topped the table since matchweek two.

They had 64 per cent possession in the first half, and went into the break level at 1-1 thanks to Bukayo Saka's 42nd-minute penalty.

But City scored twice in the second half through Jack Grealish and Erling Haaland, with the latter netting his 26th Premier League goal of the season.

It was a disappointing result for Mikel Arteta's side, who are now winless in the last three league games. It was also their first defeat this season at the Emirates Stadium, with previous losses to Everton and Manchester United occurring on the road.

Speaking after the game, Gunners captain Odegaard gave an honest verdict on what his side needed to do better against City.

Arsenal captain Odegaard gives Man City verdict

The Norwegian playmaker believes that Arsenal were 'not good enough' in front of goal against City, having found the target with only one of their 10 shots.

He said (via the official Arsenal website): "It was nice to play in, but it was of course a frustrating result. I think we did a lot of good things but in front of goal, we weren't good enough.

"That's frustrating but at the same time, we did a lot of good things, so we have to take those.

"I think everyone had a feeling that we were doing well [at half-time], that we had a lot of space to play. We needed a few adjustments to improve a few things.

"In general, I thought the game we played was pretty okay, but in front of goal it wasn't good enough."

On a personal note, Odegaard failed to add to his seasonal league tally of eight goals and five assists in the match, with Saka drawing level as Arsenal's top scorer this term.

Leandro Trossard also has eight goals to his name, although seven of those goals were scored for Brighton.
