Angel Di Maria's Exquisite Chip Goal For PSG Is A 'Replica' Of His Copa America Winner For Argentina

Angel Di Maria's Exquisite Chip Goal For PSG Is A 'Replica' Of His Copa America Winner For Argentina

Angel Di Maria combined expertly well with Achraf Hakimi before chipping a helpless Marco Bizot in Paris Saint-Germain's 4-2 win over Brest.

Angel Di Maria’s magnificent chipped finish for Paris Saint-Germain against Brest was almost a carbon copy of his Copa America winner for Argentina.

Mauricio Pochettino’s men travelled to the Stade Francis-Le Ble on Friday for their Ligue 1 clash without Lionel Messi and Neymar.

Ander Herrera fired PSG into the lead in the first half before Kylian Mbappe doubled their lead in the 36th minute.

Franck Honorat pulled one back for Brest before half-time, but Idrissa Gueye’s thunderbolt strike in the 73rd minute put PSG 3-1 up.

Brest continued to fight back as Steve Mounie scored for his side in the 85th minute, but Di Maria ensured that PSG comfortably walked away with all three points.

PSG launched a stunning three-on-one counterattack through Di Maria, Arnaud Kalimuendo and Achraf Hakimi after Brest’s corner came to nothing.

Di Maria linked up superbly with summer signing Hakimi before the former Inter Milan star floated a fantastic pass back to his teammate.

The 33-year-old Argentine composed himself before dinking the ball over a helpless Marco Bizot to seal a 4-2 win for PSG on the night.

However, eagle-eyed fans noticed that Di Maria’s exquisite chip against Brest was a "replica finish" of his winner against Brazil in this summer’s Copa America.

One fan said: “What a pass from Hakimi!”

While someone else pointed out: “Similar to [the] Copa America final.”

A third Twitter user added: “He’s [Di Maria] been so underrated his entire career.”

And a fourth tweeted: “Di Maria just scored another goal like that goal in the Copa America final.”

PSG’s victory over Brest maintains the Parisian-based side’s 100 per cent winning record in Ligue 1 this season.

Pochettino’s side will now return to action on 29th August when they travel to the Stade Auguste-Delaune for their Ligue 1 clash with Reims.
