WATCH: Canelo Pulled Off The Cheekiest Sucker Punch Last Night

The 'fight of the decade' wasn't without its controversy but Canelo Alvarez and Gennady Golovkin did produce a brilliant fight too.

GGG vs Canelo in the early hours of the morning, for those of us on European time, was a real barnstormer of a fight as two of the best in the world didn't disappoint. But many would have missed a rather cheeky punch by the Mexican.

For quite sometime Gennady Golovkin and Canelo Alvarez have had claims to be the best middleweight in the world, arguably the best pound for pound fighter on their day too, and last night we were supposed to put to bed the arguments.

The fight was a close one with Alvarez seemingly starting and finishing the stronger but the unbeaten GGG dominating in the middle and it looked like it might be enough to give him the win.

But the judges were split with one close win for the Kazakh, one draw and one large and controversial win for the Mexican meaning a draw and the exciting prospect of a rematch.

One moment that might have been missed was Canelo's cheeky sucker punch when the 'home' favourite was holding onto his opponent:

The whole fight was brilliant though with the two men exchanging some big blows and neither of the wobbling too much off their feet and the highlights show just a glimpse of how good it was:

But to be honest if there was one disappointment it's that Canelo didn't go for a DDT here, he had him in the perfect position and he might have finished the fight right there, although Randy Orton never manages it.

The ending might have been slightly controversial because of the large margin in one of the scorecards but if it means that these two will face off again then I guess we'll all get over it pretty quickly!
