The Notorious got the mic first and he didn't disappoint quickly giving Mayweather a dressing down.

Some boxing purists might hate the idea of Floyd Mayweather vs Conor McGregor but ever since it was suggested we've loved the idea and it only took Conor McGregor a few seconds to prove why.

Oscar de la Hoya has been the most vociferous in arguing that this is nothing more than a sideshow that degrades the 'sweet science.'

Well when a fight between the guy who beat you and a man who has never fought in a boxing ring before is outshining the fight you're putting on a few weeks later you are bound to have sour grapes.

For the rest of us though we appreciate that the boxing might be nothing but a foregone conclusion but the event itself and those leading up to it are worth the money alone.

On Tuesday night for the very first the Notorious and Money came face-to-face and had the chance to start the war of words.

It took the Irishman mere seconds to get to the mic and drop some insults on his opponent:

This was quite literally the opening throws of their verbal sparring with the UFC's number one asset taking to the mic first of the two fighters, after being introduced by Dana White.

Surprisingly enough the UFC's lightweight champ didn't go too much on the offensive during his short spell talking but he clearly riled Mayweather up a bit.

The 49-0 boxer had a longer stint talking and got to the point where he offered the Irishman the chance to fight with lighter gloves when it comes to fight night.

Of course that offer was no doubt an empty one but nonetheless it was the first signs of what promises to be a really exciting build up.

The pair were meeting in LA and now head to Toronto for the next part of their tour, New York is on Thursday night and finally they arrive in London on Friday.

This week will be very interesting on the road to Vegas!
