Captioning the photo of his freshly decorated tree, the 31-year-old wrote: "While everyone's asleep, daddy put the Christmas tree up. Lamaisah's going to be happy. Christmas #MerryChristmas2017."

Unsurprisingly, many of the star's followers appeared impressed with his efforts, and rushed to compliment his festive tree.

However, others were less kind, with some going to disgusting lengths to insult the boxer.

"I promise to god i want kill you and your family Amir," wrote one vile troll.

While another slammed: "Muslims don't celebrate Christmas. It's one thing to give out cards at school your respecting other faith and their celebration but putting up a tree in your own home....poor kid will be well confused."

Sticking up for Amir's decision to put a tree up in his own home, one follower jumped to his defense, and explained: "I read the Quran and it is clear that Jesus is also a prophet. People slating him must not read the Quran."

Somebody else said: "I'm Muslim and put my tree up every year merry Xmas! Hope you have a good one!!!"

Amir is a practicing Muslim, and was given separate meals in the I'm A Celeb jungle due to his faith.

Apparently, the athlete only decided to sign up for the show when he found out that eating creepy-crawlies does not go against his faith.

One Muslim scholar wrote online: "There is no evidence in the Quran or Hadith at all where most insects (except scorpions) are called unclean. Therefore, insects are halal and you can eat them if you want without committing a sin.

"There are also very good reasons for eating insects, especially in the light of a growing population."

The Mail reports that only eating scorpions is banned as part of the Muslim faith.
