Could it happen?

Former Heavyweight Champion Tyson Fury announced his return to Boxing yesterday and said that a date had been set for him to fight on May 13th on BT Sport/BoxNation and that he was working on an opponent.

And just a day later, the self-proclaimed 'Gypsy King' has hinted at a possible fight with Tony Bellew in the summer.

He posted the following message on Twitter, asking fans whether they wanted to see the clash and accompanying the post with an old picture of the two together.

And it seems like Bellew, fresh from a huge victory over David Haye at a sold-out O2 Arena at the weekend, is also intrigued by the potential of a showdown with Fury.

Earlier today, he posted the same picture of the two heavyweights and added a thinking emoji in his Tweet:

Things could get interesting.

Fury has been away from Boxing since producing a stunning performance to defeat Wladimir Klitschko in November 2015 and had to relinquish his WBA, WBO and IBO World Heavyweight titles back in October after an investigation was launched into him reportedly failing a drugs test.

Fury confessed to Rolling Stones magazine in an interview that he has "done lots of cocaine."

The undefeated boxer has been embroiled in controversy since claiming the heavyweight titles in one of the biggest shocks in Boxing history.

Fury pulled out of a scheduled rematch with Klitschko twice amid reports of him being medically unfit to fight due to mental health concerns and a potential UKAD drug testing violation.

He had his Boxing licence suspended as a result of the events.

In a statement on Hennessy Sports the former world champ said, "I feel that it is only fair and right and for the good of boxing to keep the titles active."

Fury was likely to be stripped of his belts by the two organisations and so the Mancunian opted to give them up.

As a result of Fury vacating the belts, a big-money world heavyweight title between Anthony Joshua and Wladimir Klitschko was scheduled and the two juggernauts will lock horns at Wembley Stadium on 29 April.

Fury has made it clear that he intended to reclaim the belts he never lost when he returned from a break from Boxing and now appears to be taking the first steps towards doing so.

Back in December, Fury's uncle and trainer Peter announced that Tyson would return in spring 2017 and targeted a fight with Deontay Wilder.

But he now appears to have his sights on Bellew, who himself has admitted he may not get back in the ring again. However, his promoter Eddie Hearn has said that Bellew could fight WBC heavyweight champ Wilder or WBO champion Joseph Parker in the future and those fights would bring a big payday for "The Bomber".

When asked about what could be in the pipeline, he said:

"I have a lot of options.

"If people want to come and talk to me, I don't know what's going to happen, but it will have to be something special.

"I am the best heavyweight in the world outside the champions, and none of them have a name like David Haye on their record, so what does that mean?

"David Haye was like the bogeyman of the division.

"Nobody wanted to fight him but the fat cruiserweight did. And you know what? He beat him too. Just let that sink in."

The Fury fight would also have plenty of interest, though there would likely still be a whole lot of details to sort out before the summer, as Fury is not even considered an active boxer and does not have a boxing licence at present.
