Khabib Nurmagomedov's father has shed light on a potential date and venue for the proposed superfight with Floyd Mayweather.

Not too long after the defence of his Lightweight title in the UFC 229 main event against Conor McGregor in October, Khabib made a call-out to his fellow undefeated fighter when mingling with Leonard Ellerbe, the CEO of Mayweather Promotions.

He laid down the challenge and mentioned the fact that he put McGregor on his arse when Mayweather didn't despite beating him by TKO in the Las Vegas crossover boxing bout.

The two have since gone back and forth with all sorts of different jabs and we're genuinely at the point where we could see the two slug it out in the squared circle.

And Abdulmanap, Khabib's dad, reckons it could happen in Russia in May time once his son's UFC deal expires.

"A fight with Floyd is possible after the end of the contract with the UFC," he told IZ.ru, via The Mirror.

"This is interesting not only for us, but also for serious investors.

"This may happen May 4 in Grozny."

With his fight against McGregor and now his New Year's Eve exhibition bout with 20-year old Japanese kickboxer Tenshin Nasukawa on the Rizin 14 card at Saitama Super Arena in Tokyo, Mayweather is showing that anything can happen in combat sports so don't be surprised if he does fight Khabib.

The 41-year old had a message for both McGregor and Khabib when hyping up his three round boxing match, which won't count on his official record.

"I'm the face of just combat sports period. Whether it's boxing or MMA, I'm the face of it all," Mayweather said.

"I'm not even worried about those guys. Conor McGregor, he already know what happened with that. Khabib running his mouth. He wants to get in there, I'll take care of him, too."

Mayweather once again referred to himself as the shot-caller as he's the "A-side".

"I'm not a f**king degenerate," 'Money' added.

"I'm not going into nobody else's cage and do what they do. I would've done that from the beginning. I'm a boxer.

"Floyd Mayweather is a boxer. And if anybody wants to compete against me or fight against me, it's in the boxing ring. Simple and plain."
