An interesting comment from the Hayemaker.

Boxing promoter Eddie Hearn has revealed what David Haye said to him straight after the heavyweight's loss by TKO to Tony Bellew on Saturday night.

It was a rematch for the ages.

Bellew had defeated Haye once before, but many put the surprise win down to Haye injuring his Achilles during the bout.

For this much-anticipated rematch, the London-born fighter was the favourite, so it came as a shock when Bellew knocked Haye down three times and beat the 37-year-old once again.

The match was a frantic contest.

The first few rounds, the two competitors checked each other with jabs. Then it opened up. Haye laying punches whilst flat-footed, looking to finish the match off early, but it was the Liverpudlian who came out on top, knocking Haye down several times before the referee called a halt to proceedings.

Haye said before the fight that if so much as didn't destroy Bellew, he would retire from the sport entirely.

After his loss, Haye ducked questions about the future of his career, but Essex-born Hearn has revealed exactly what the defeated and deflated Haye told him straight after fourth loss of his career, giving some insight into the boxer's future.

When asked whether fight will be the last of Haye's career Hearn said via the Daily Star. "It should be.

"He came up to me afterwards and said: 'I loved that'. He really enjoyed the fight and it was a tear up.

"There were times when I thought 'if Tony lands one here - it's over'."

Hearn added: "But that's why he's got balls like f******melons, because he will stand in front of you and trade, and he believes in his power."

It shows that perhaps Haye has no plans to hang up his gloves just yet. It shows that he is still in love with the sport. With a record such as 28-4, you could argue that there could just be some more left in Haye's tank.
