Boxing journalist Steve Bunce has made a huge claim that former world heavyweight champion Wladimir Klitschko could return to the ring in April to face a British heavyweight at Wembley.

For quite some time the heavyweight division in boxing was the sleeping giant of sport. Boxing's blue riband event was pretty uninteresting and didn't have any viable challengers to the two Klitschko brothers.

A lot has changed in a short amount of time, pretty much the three years since Tyson Fury ended Wladimir Klitschko's reign as world champion, and the division is back to being the most talked about in the sport- how it should be.

Fury added even more fuel to the flames of the division in December with his controversial draw with Deontay Wilder and now we're just waiting to find out what happens next, with so many possibilities.

Now respected boxing journalist, and BBC and BT pundit, Steve Bunce has revealed the shock news that Wladimir Klitschko could be set to come out of retirement to face a 'British heavyweight' at Wembley, with many speculating it's Dillian Whyte. Speaking on BBC 5 Live Boxing Podcast Bunce said:

"I still fancy [Anthony] Joshua fights Miller in America. [Referencing the date that AJ has booked for Wembley]

"I think either the April date gets pushed back or something else goes on there.

"I'm hearing all sorts of stuff about a fight that might be.

"Wladimir Klitschko's coming back, he's gonna fight again and I'm hearing him linked with a big British heavyweight.

"It's not Fury and it's not Joshua, and I'm hearing that could be the fight that we see there.

"And that would be sexy, that would be an awful lot of fun, and that would be the type of fight that would appease people if they had made travel plans for Wembley."

It's quite the claim by Bunce and would be an amazing turn of events if it were to happen, with AJ making his debut in America and Klitschko coming out of retirement.

The pundit was later asked on Twitter whether the opponent might be Whyte, who would be the third best heavyweight right now behind AJ and Fury:

It still seems like a long shot of this happening but a Klitschko return to the ring could be the biggest sports story of the year, no matter what happens after.

Could it really be?
